What is a group run?

Curious about what to expect on a group run with Redditch Community Runners? Great – here’s how it works!

A typical RCR group run follows a friendly, structured format designed to help everyone feel welcome, supported, and safe.

Before the run

Each run has a set time and meeting point somewhere in Redditch or the surrounding villages. Just arrive on time and check in with the run leader when you get there.

Getting started

We kick things off with a short group warm-up (around 5 minutes) to get your body moving and ready. Then your run leader will explain the route and make sure everyone’s good to go.

During the run

Once we’re off, the group sticks together — no one gets left behind. Faster runners help keep the group together by “looping” back to the rear of the group at intervals. It’s all about community and support.

We’ll also pause at designated points to regroup — your run leader will let you know when and where.

After the run

At the end, we cool down with a group stretch and cool-down session (around 10 minutes), and the run leader will check in with everyone to make sure you’re feeling good.

Important info

All weekly runs are listed in our app. To join a session, you must book through the app — this ensures we have your ICE (In Case of Emergency) details on hand. It’s a safety must, and we can’t allow anyone to run without being booked in.
